Recognise and interpret trends in fashion, photography, cinema, moving image, the arts, publishing, and multimedia: with the Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Design and Multimedia Arts you will enter a unique learning environment, where you will learn to practise the expressive languages of fashion and multimedia arts.
The programme has a strong experimental character combined with analytical and design methodologies, with particular attention to material culture. It addresses creative processes and products, creating a dialogue between artistic research and design practice. It extends the concept of technological innovation to the themes of body, identity, and memory in contemporary visual and design culture. It is connected to the productive, creative, industrial and consumer systems of art and fashion, with a special focus on the Made in Italy context. You can choose from four curricula: Multimedia Arts, Fashion Design, Fashion Communication and New Media, Materials Design for Fashion.

Multimedia Arts track
Contact person: Emanuele Arielli

If you want to work in visual arts, multimedia, and cinema, Iuav offers you a unique method and study plan in Italy that intertwines theory and practice and, thanks to high-level faculty and professionals, enables you to realise your first personal work and to work within the art and media system.
Theory courses provide tools to understand and assess the productions of today’s cultural industries. Studios, led by established Italian and international professionals and artists, give you dedicated spaces to realise your projects (photography, multimedia, model-making). The course collaborates with institutions such as La Biennale di Venezia, Triennale di Torino, Palazzo Grassi, Fondazione Spinola Banna, Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Castello di Rivoli, and with international art exhibitions like Documenta and Manifesta.
After graduation you can collaborate in the production or organisation of artistic and cultural activities in companies, design studios, the creative industries, specialised publishing, manufacturing in the fashion and arts sectors, and in public or private institutions.

Iuav is today one of Europe’s leading academic institutions for educating designers and advancing fashion studies. Iuav fashion degrees aim for excellence, training designers and new protagonists of the contemporary fashion world, capable of charting an original path towards a truly Italian school of fashion, inclusive and open to global exchange.
Fashion teaching at Iuav is built on an extraordinary system of studios, involving new leaders in fashion and guiding you to develop your personal fashion project and present it in the final runway show, the most eagerly awaited moment, also open to industry audiences. You will also learn how to conduct research and prepare to face all the challenges of a complex and constantly changing system such as contemporary fashion.
Iuav Fashion is a stimulating, open environment, a community of students and faculty in continuous dialogue. You can take part in workshops, lectures, exhibitions, editorial projects, and international contests. Through the internship you will enter the heart of work in fashion companies and studios.
After graduation you can work in style offices, production, and the creative direction of a brand, alongside fashion stylists and fashion curators.

Fashion Communication and New Media track
Contact person: Saul Marcadent

This track offers an original path focusing on communication, curatorial practices, and immaterial design that define new forms of fashion and its visual culture.
The course interweaves studio practice with theory. You will approach the world of fashion communication through cultural studies and visual culture, with attention to image making and graphics, print and online publishing, data visualisation processes, retail design, and practices related to the archive aimed at conservation, imagination, and design.
You will complete your path with an internship in companies, art direction studios, editorial platforms, and cultural institutions.
After graduation you can work as a junior professional in publishing, multimedia content design, retail/visual design, alongside designers, event curators, editors, and stylists.

Materials Design for Fashion track
Contact person: Pietro Costa

Materials design is central to research in the fashion system, especially considering the impact generated by waste and microplastic pollution. Opportunities for innovation and well-being offered by personalised production combined with solutions that respect environmental qualities underpin a renewed interest in materials destined for fashion production.
The track in Materials Design for Fashion combines theory, technical and humanistic teaching with project-based and lab activities, to train professionals able to act in the delicate phases of ecological and digital transition, circular regeneration, and ecosystemic adaptation in the fashion industry. You will gain knowledge of materials used in the textile and accessories sectors, experimenting directly and engaging with experts aware of the future challenges of Italian design. You will interact with local stakeholders to strengthen ties with the job market. In the third year you can undertake an internship, entering into direct contact with companies or professional studios. After graduation you can work in sector companies and style offices as a junior designer or technician for the development of products and patterns for fashion.
