topics and call for papers
The 7th annual
conference on Transportation studies, organised by research unit TTL- Transport
Territory and Logistics of the Universitā Iuav di Venezia, will focus on the
problems related to the mobility during the mass events. The conference will
discuss on the new infrastructures and services required to satisfy the peak of
demand during the event and the way to convert them to the standard
requirements of the area after the event is over.
An event can be
defined a mass event both in absolute and in relative terms compared to the
size of the city and its transportation issues. Examples of this can be
provided by the Olympic games and Other sport events, the Expos and the
international Fairs, concerts, religious events and so on.
The conference will
deal with:
- the case studies and
a critical review of the past big events in the vision of the future ones
- an outlook on the
next big events planned in the future i.e. London 2012, Milano 2015, Rio de
Janeiro 2016, etc. with a study for the possible eligibility of Venice for the
Olympic games in 2020
- the analysis of the
mobility issues in the case of large events (demand forecast and models)
- upgrading and
downgrading the transport systems
- projects and
scenarios
- master plan and
evaluation models.

Abstracts (around 300
words) have to be sent to ttlvenice2010@gmail.com ultimately before August, 30h, 2010. Abstracts will be
reviewed by the Conference Board and from Anonymous Referees through a double-blind
peer review. The authors of selected papers will be notified until September
10th, 2010.
Full papers - due by October
10th, 2010 of a maximum length of 20 pages in accordance to conference
format – will be published in CD-ROM distributed to all
participants at the beginning of the conference: we ask authors to send proof
of registration fee payment and the registration
form by the same date.
The presentation files
of the talks will be made available after the conference on the
conference-website.
Conference
papers should be original manuscripts, which are coherent with the scope of the
session. They can be either empirical or theoretical research on conference
matters and should potentially have practical application to urban problems,
issues or policies in transportation. They will be assessed using the following
criteria:
- adherence
to conference theme;
- originality
of the contents;
- generalization
of the methods and results described;
- quality
of the contribution to the transportation community;
- s<ignificance
of the results presented.

reasons, advance registration on the conference is fully encouraged. To
register, it is necessary to send e-mail to ttlvenice2010@gmail.com including a receipt for payment.
Author registration fees have to be paid until 30th September.
For guests conference early registration
fees will be available until September
30th, 2010. After that, regular registration fees will be applied.
The fee includes proceeding of the conference (with ISBN code), exhibits, receptions and social dinner. Student fee does not include social dinner.
