Biografia

Alberto Pérez-Gómez (Città del Messico 24 dicembre 1949,) è storico dell’architettura, disciplina che ha intrecciato, nel corso delle sue ricerche e pubblicazioni, con gli studi sulla fenomenologia e sulle forme della rappresentazione. Laureatosi in Ingegneria presso l’Instituto Politécnico Nacional di Città del Messico, ha completato la sua formazione post -universitaria (in Teoria e Storia dell’architettura) presso la University of Essex (Inghilterra) dove ha conseguito il suo  Master of Arts nel 1975 e il Ph.D. nel 1979. Nel 1984, ha vinto the Alice Davis Hitchcock Award per il suo libro Architecture and the Crisis of Modern Science (MIT press). Ha insegnato e tenuto conferenze presso varie scuole di architettura e istituzioni accademiche in tutto il mondo; è stato Preside della Carleton University School of Architecture dal 1983 al 1986. Attualmente, coordina il programma in History and Theory of Architecture presso la McGill University School of Architecture, dove è Saidye Rosner Bronfman Professor in History and Theory of Architecture, ricoprendo anche il ruolo di direttore dei Post-Professional programs. Insieme a Stephen Parcell, è il curatore della rivista CHORA: Intervals in the Philosophy of Architecture. Vive a Montreal.
