Giovanni Bordiga founds the “Scuola superiore di architettura” as a branch of the Accademia delle Belle Arti di Venezia.

 

1943-1971

Giuseppe Samoną redefines the way architecture is taught: in the post-war reconstruction of the country the student of architecture, the future architect, needs to tackle real issues.

 

1952

Frank Lloyd Wright visits Iuav

Ernesto Nathan Rogers organises CIAM Congres Internationaux d'Architecture Moderne at Iuav

 

1963-64

Le Corbusier visits Iuav

 

1971

Giovanni Astengo coordinates the first course in Italy in Urban Planning

 

1974-1979

Carlo Aymonino lauches a new organisational reform with the inauguration of 3 departments to respond to a new and more defined specialisations

 

1993

12.000 students enrolled – the maximum Iuav has ever had

 

2018

Iuav Department of Architecture and Arts is designated as a department of excellence based on a competitive selection process carried out by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR).

 

2019

After 12 years, the tradition of the inauguration of the academic year is resumed at the presence of the President represents the Chamber of Deputies, Roberto Fico.

 

Iuav launches the first master's degree in English: the MA in architecture

 

2020

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, Iuav moves all its activities online. In September, educational activities resume in mixed mode (online and face-to-face).

 

2021

Iuav launches the MS in English in Urban Planning for Transition
