The Student Senate is a representative body for all Iuav students. It offers an important opportunity to participate in university life and in decisions concerning teaching, as well as to propose initiatives and projects of interest to the student community.
The Student Senate expresses its opinion on degree regulations, student welfare and grants (diritto allo studio), teaching services, and any other university services provided for students. It can also suggest surveys and reviews to University bodies to monitor academic activities.
The Student Senate is composed of representatives from all Iuav Bachelor's and Master's degree courses, appointed by Rector’s Decree No. 251 of 22 April 2025:
Members of the Student Senate are appointed for a two-year mandate (until 28 April 2027).
In the absence of representatives for specific degree courses (due to resignation or graduation), the Student Senate (sds@iuav.it) remains available as the representative body for all students of the University.

The Student Senate has appointed its representatives to the governing bodies and structures of Università Iuav di Venezia, as established by Rectoral Decree No. 260 of 29 April 2025 and Rectoral Decree No. 657 of 24 October.
Student senators may organise cultural activities that are of particular interest to the student community and are compatible with the university's institutional aims.
Cultural activities are selected through Call for Ideas: invitations to submit proposals for cultural activities funded by the Student Senate.
Proposals may include conferences / talks / screenings, publications / exhibitions, workshops / laboratories, performances / installations.
Following a positive assessment by an evaluation committee and approval by the Student Senate, the selected proposals are funded and implemented in close collaboration with student senators.
Those responsible for the initiatives may refer to the Institutional Affairs Service (Servizio Affari Istituzionali) and the Student Senate for information and support throughout all stages of the activity.

The deadline for submitting applications has been extended to 27 March 2026.
Upon expiry of the deadline for submitting concepts, the Institutional Affairs Service verifies the eligibility of the proposals, and the Student Senate appoints the evaluation committee and the supporting Student Senators.

The proponents of eligible proposals were invited to attend an interview, which was mandatory in order to access Phase 2. During the interview, the evaluation committee selected the concepts according to the criteria set out in the text of the call.
Phase 2
Those who successfully passed Phase 1 verify the feasibility of their proposal with the relevant offices, with the support of the Student Senators appointed by the Student Senate, and prepare a detailed budget.
To access the second evaluation phase, it is necessary to submit a final project by the deadline of 11 June 2026.
At its meeting on 22 June 2026, the Student Senate examined the ranking of the final projects drawn up by the evaluation committee on 15 June 2026 and resolved to approve funding for the initiatives listed below, specifying the amount allocated to each one:

The Student Senate may evaluate proposals from parties external to Iuav student community and determine potential forms of collaboration. It may grant non-financial patronage to an initiative, offer voluntary organisational support, or assist with the promotion and dissemination of the project. In the latter case, the Student Senate may potentially draw from its own management fund to cover printing costs only, via the University’s communications service.
The Student Senate office is located on the first floor of the Cotonificio building, situated between rooms M1 and N2, past the model-making room (aula plastici).
The Student Senate spaces are open to all students as a meeting place and a hub for collaboration and discussion regarding cultural activities, teaching, and education.
Access to the room is possible only with authorisation from the members of the Student Senate. It is possible to contact them directly by emailing sds@iuav.it.
Aula Plastici is located on the first floor of the Cotonificio building, situated between rooms M2 and N1. Since 2013, the Iuav Student Senate has managed this space as a temporary storage area for materials and models, open to all students of the university.
