Right to education benefits are granted to students who are pursuing each level of study for the first time: Bachelor's degree (Laurea), Master's degree (Laurea Magistrale), and Research Doctorate (PhD).
Non-EU students who have already graduated abroad and who enroll at our university with a shortened academic path (credit recognition) may apply for a tuition reduction, but not for a scholarship.
Students can apply for tax reduction and exemptions for all years of enrollment in a bachelor’s, master’s, or single-cycle master’s degree program.
Tax reduction and exemptions are calculated on their ISEE and merit.

Starting from the 2016/2017 academic year, the university has activated, for all courses of study, the sole income-based reduction for those who already hold a degree of the same level as the one they are enrolling, including degrees from systems prior to Ministerial Decree 509/1999.
Those who fall into this category will only be eligible for income-based tuition fee reductions and not merit-based reductions, and will not be eligible for scholarships.
Starting from July 30, 2026, it will be possible to apply for tax reduction and exemption, for which it is essential to comply with all the procedures indicated.
To request a tax reduction, you must submit a regular application via the portal by December 18, 2026, by following these steps:
After the deadline of December 18, 2026, it will still be possible to apply for tax reduction and exemption but a fee for late submission of documentation will be charged:
5th of May 2027 is the final deadline.
After 5th of May it will not be possible anymore to apply for any tax reduction and exemption and any recalculation of university fees will no longer be accepted.
Furthermore, it will no longer be possible to correct ISEE-related errors
Remember to apply for a fee waiver filling out the self-certification for each academic year for which you intend to renew your enrollment. Otherwise, your ISEE will not be calculated, and the maximum tuition fee will be applied.
In ordet to get the reduction of the tuition fees for the 2026/2027 academic year at Iuav, you must submit an ISEE related to the right to education and complete the online self-certification form on the SPIN Internet Portal.
The ISEE certificate for the right to education does not need to be submitted directly to the university; Iuav will download it from the INPS database within 24 hours of the submission of the self certification.
For students applying for an ISEE Parificato: the ISEE will be sent to the university by the affiliated CAF.
For an ISEE acquired from the INPS database: after the submission of the self-certification, students must verify the acquisition of the ISEE.
You must verify it:
Once you’ve logged in on your SPIN Portal, if the procedure was successful, you are going to be able to see the new amount of your tuition fees for the 2026/2027 academic year.
If the procedure was successful, you will also be able to review the income and real estate assets declared to INPS in the “Self-Certifications” section.
Iuav automatically acquires the ISEE only if the procedure on the SPIN portal is successfully completed.
The application will not be processed in the following cases
In the event of late submission of the self-certification, the previously invoiced and unpaid installment will be modified, following the recalculation of the amounts.
In this case, the installment must be re-invoiced.
If you have any questions or notice anything unusual, please contact the Financial aid service (diritto.studio@iuav).
The date of submission of the ISEE to the university matches the calendar year in which it is made. For self-certifications submitted in the year 2026, it will be mandatory to submit an ISEE 2026. For self-certifications submitted starting from January 1, 2027, it will be mandatory to submit an ISEE 2027
Failure to submit the ISEE by the deadline, or submission of a document that is incorrect, expired, or ineligible for university financial aid, will result in the automatic assignment of the maximum grant of 2,806.18 euros-
It is possible to correct an ISEE that contains discrepancies or errors without being charged the late fee of 200 or 500 euros, providing a new and corrected certificate by December 18, 2026. Please follow the self-certification instructions required to request a tuition reduction and obtain the correct calculation of your installments.
The economic conditions of the family unit are assessed on the basis of the ISEE (Equivalent Economic Situation Indicator). The ISEE depicts the economic capacity of the family and considers not only income and assets, but also the composition of the family unit and other specific conditions.
The amount of the tution fees is based on the economic conditions and the merit.
If you’ve already meet the income requirements, with the merit, the amount can be further reduced; merit is calculated automatically for all those who apply for a fee waiver.
In cases where the family's economic situation is due to bankruptcy, in case of lay-off and dismissal, it is possible to recalculate the ISEE at any time during the academic year, without late fees and with a new calculation of the installments. To recalculate the ISEE in this case, you must request to the CAF or INPS the “ISEE “corrente”.
Upon annual request, income-based reductions are granted for the entire duration of the university career, including any years of enrollment beyond the standard duration.
Merit-based reductions, on the other hand, are granted to students who already benefit from income-based reductions and who have been enrolled at Iuav for a total number of years not exceeding the normal duration plus one – with reference to the year of first enrollment – for those enrolled in degree courses under Ministerial Decree 509/1999 and subsequent decrees.
In cases of transfer from another course of study, even at a different university, or withdrawal from studies, all years of actual enrollment resulting from the academic career are counted for the calculation of merit, regardless of the course of study or university of origin.
Are only required to pay the regional fee (which is subsequently reimbursed to those eligible for the scholarship) and the stamp duty (and, in the case of inter-university courses, any contributions):
Students who initially paid a tuition fee higher than the amount due based on their ISEE value or the exemption to which they are entitled to, will receive a refund or an adjustment.
Refunds are made on a massive scale on a regular basis.
For the 2026/27 academic year the designed dates for the refunds are:
Students who have not applied for a tuition fee waiver and have not provided an IBAN for refund disbursement by April 2027, will receive the amount due with the first refunds for the 2027/28 academic year.
We kindly invite you to complete the procedure on time.
