La tesi di Maida Štulanović, laureata magistrale in Architecture presso l'Università Iuav di Venezia, è stata selezionata per la mostra annuale Collegium Artisticum 2025, nella categoria Idee e progetti non realizzati. Intitolata «Ostrožac’s overlook. Restoration of the Old Town walls through delayering», la tesi è stata seguita da Emanuela Sorbo e co-supervisionata da Giuseppe Caldarola. La selezione delle opere esposte nella categoria Architettura è stata curata da una giuria nominata dal consiglio dell’Associazione degli Architetti in Bosnia ed Erzegovina, composta da Leo Modrčin (Zagabria), Rok Kuhar (Lubiana) e Aleksandar Lilić (Banja Luka), per l’edizione CA2025.
La mostra, che si tiene annualmente a Sarajevo dal 1975, rappresenta l’evento più importante per urbanistica, architettura e design in Bosnia ed Erzegovina. La sua tradizione mira a preservare una panoramica dei risultati creativi del paese e della regione. Le oltre 200 opere esposte includono grafica, design di prodotto e moda, scenografia, costume, fotografia artistica, ceramica, illustrazione, lavorazioni artistiche di metallo e tessuti, oltre a disegni, pitture, sculture, installazioni e performance.
La mostra è organizzata dall’Associazione degli Artisti Figurativi di Bosnia ed Erzegovina, dall’Associazione degli Artisti di Arti Applicate e Designer, dall’Associazione degli Architetti in Bosnia ed Erzegovina e dall’Istituzione Pubblica Collegium Artisticum.
La tesi di Maida Štulanović si concentra sul restauro e la conservazione delle mura fortificate come elemento fondamentale del sito, integrando un nuovo edificio che funge da riempimento della struttura un tempo perduta. Viene proposto un percorso che fa da collegamento tra epoche diverse, restituendo ordine al giardino ed esaltando l’esperienza artistica del giardino delle sculture. L’inserimento contemporaneo genera un nuovo carattere delle mura, trasformando un tempo difensivo in un punto di osservazione per ammirare il paesaggio della valle e del fiume circostanti. La connessione con il contesto è enfatizzata dalla percezione dei livelli e dell’ambiente vegetale. Il progetto mira a restituire attenzione e significato a un’area distrutta nel tempo da furti e negligenza, dove solo pietre robuste testimoniano la passata grandezza. Con l’intervento contemporaneo, il luogo ritrova senso, sollevando una riflessione sul passato e sul presente per le generazioni future.

The thesis of Maida Štulanović, a Master's degree graduate in Architecture at the Iuav University of Venice, was selected for the annual Collegium Artisticum 2025 Exhibition, in the category of “Ideas and unrealized projects”. Titled “Ostrožac’s overlook. Restoration of the Old Town walls through delayering” was supervised by Emanuela Sorbo and co-supervised by Giuseppe Caldarola. The selection for exhibition works in the category of architecture is chosen by a jury, defined by the board of the Association of Architects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, composed of Leo Modrčin (Zagreb), Rok Kuhar (Ljubljana) and Aleksandar Lilić (Banja Luka), for CA2025.
Annually held in Sarajevo since 1975, it is the most important exhibition for urbanism, architecture, and design in Bosnia and Herzegovina, whose tradition tries to preserve the overview of the country's and region's creative achievements. More than 200 exhibited works include graphics, product and fashion design, scenography, costume design, artistic photography, ceramics, illustration, artistic processing of metal, textiles, as well as drawings, paintings, sculptures, installations, and performances. The exhibition is organized by the Association of Fine Artists in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Association of Fine Artists of Applied Arts and Designers, the Association of Architects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Public Institution Collegium Artisticum.
The thesis focuses on the restoration and preservation of fortification walls as a fundamental element of the site, with an integration of a new building, acting as an infill to the once-lost structure. Proposing a path that acts as a connector between different periods, gives a new order to the garden, elevating an artistic experience of the sculpture garden. A contemporary infill generates a new character of the fortification walls, changing once a defensive to an admiration point for observation of the breathtaking surroundings of a valley and a river. The tangibility towards the context is elevated by the perception of its levels and vegetational surroundings. The project aims to give a new perception and attention to the area destroyed over time by robbery and negligence, where only strong stones reflect once powerful times. With the contemporary intervention, the place becomes meaningful again, where reflection of the past and present will be left for future reasoning.
