Writing and performing desire

As part of the exhibition Narratives of Desire, Mythologies of Distance, we present a series of events that approach intimacy, love, sexuality, identity, desire, and closeness from different artistic, performative, and literary perspectives.

On 5 November, from 16:00 to 18.00, Natasha Zinos and Klara Kuzs lead the creative writing workshop My Desire [Is a Red House].
Drawing on literary, poetic, and cinematic references, the workshop invites participants to imagine desire as an inhabitable space: its architecture, objects, boundaries, and possible inhabitants.
Through collective reflection and guided writing exercises, participants explore how language gives form to intimate experiences, fantasies, and emotional relationships, producing their own short poetic or prose texts. Writing becomes a way of approaching desire with curiosity, opening up possibilities for self-exploration and imaginative encounters with others.
The workshop will take place in both Italian and English language.

The programme continues on 5 November at 18.00 with Lia Piccinini’s performance Tarli, an installation-based exploration of the voice and the difficulty of communicating inner experiences. Within a fragile structure of recycled materials, tangled threads, and strings, the performer attempts to articulate what resists expression. Words, breaths, and repetitions gradually dissolve into noise, revealing the tensions between the desire to be understood, the limits of language, and the vulnerability of making oneself heard.
Together, these events explore how desire is imagined, articulated, and embodied through our encounters with others, but also when it remains unexpressed, within ourselves. We invite you to join us in a shared space of experimentation and reflection, where desire is given a poetic form, but also her grounds reflected!
