When planning the future of our seas, one of the key challenges is ensuring that the solutions we design are effective in protecting the marine environment while allowing for sustainable development of human uses. This seminar explores how Prioritization and Systematic Conservation Planning (SCP) can support Maritime Spatial Planning through quantitative tools that help evaluate planning scenarios and identify priority areas for conservation. Participants will gain practical insight into how spatial optimisation approaches can translate ecological and socio-economic objectives into concrete planning solutions.
