Architectural models are tools for speculating, making, and critical thinking. While digital software increasingly removes and streamlines choices for designers, the physical process of making empowers us to play with the scale, materiality, and imaginaries of model making. The research projects showcased include a range of narrative work, material tests, and experimental models, ranging from augmented reality hybrids to the whiskey processes of the Scottish Highlands.
Dr Emma Colthurst is an interdisciplinary designer and researcher, trained in both architecture and landscape architecture. Her research and design practice explores the interconnections between material movements, ecological perspectives, and urban equity - examining critical approaches to multi-sited and multispecies anthropology. Emma has taught graduate design studios in landscape architecture and urbanism at The Bartlett School of Architecture and the University of Greenwich, and in architecture at Syracuse University London.
