The workshop applies the intuitive pattern making method to reveal and translate a garment represented in a fashion image into a paper pattern. By focusing on the translation process, students will be guided to describe and elaborate on the process of designing a garment. The exercise is not about remaking the patterns correctly, but about translating a visual image into a pattern while reflecting on the potential agency of the object via the body, movement, design and making process.
