Curator and theorist Jeppe Ugelvig will discuss the urgent need for new critical approaches in fashion research. Through his journal and institute, Viscose, Ugelvig has proposed a trans-disciplinary re-imagination of fashion mediation by bringing the insular cultures of experimental publishing, academia, and contemporary art into productive friction. Ugelvig will present the most recent issue of Viscose, devoted to the sonic cultures and histories of fashion practice, as well as Viscose Syllabus, a digital bibliographic research tool, developed in partnership with University of California, which tries to re-imagine methodologies in the critical theory of fashion.
