Climate indicators for Maritime Spatial Planning

Terese, aula 0.3 (ex B)

Speaker: Alessia Rizzi, research fellow, Institute of Marine Sciences of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR-ISMAR), Venezia

Climate change is rapidly altering marine ecosystems, posing new challenges for long-term maritime spatial planning. This seminar explores how complex, multidimensional climate model outputs can be condensed into practical indicators,  including climate hotspots and refugia, to inform and support MSP processes.
Drawing on case studies from the Mediterranean and Adriatic seas, the session introduces analog-based velocity approaches as a way to translate climate projections into spatially explicit information relevant for marine planners and decision-makers.

This seminar is part of the course "Digital tools for advanced maritime spatial planning".
