Seminar by Michael Ruggiero

Michael Ruggiero is a fashion designer and independent researcher based in Milan, awarded the Stockholm Prize 2025 for sustainable fashion. He began questioning traditional tailoring rules to create garments that avoid fabric waste, specilising in zero-waste garments construction through experimental paper patterns. This approach led him to define the Experimental Off-Centre Tailoring Method: a design practice that transforms geometric modules into unexpected silhouettes.
The lecture will be the opportunity to discover the process, the potential in reducing textile waste and optimise resources, and to reflect on zero waste pattern making as the starting point for new creative narratives aimed at a more sustainable fashion future.
