When you fill out the self-certification form, you’ll be asked to indicate your status according to the following guidelines:

• On site: if you reside in the municipality or in the area surrounding the location of your degree program.
• Commuter: if you reside at a location between 40 and 80 km away and/or have a commute time of between 40 and 80 minutes.
• Off-site: if you reside more than 80 km away and have signed a rental contract in the City of Venice or in one of the municipalities classified as “on-site,” for a period of at least ten months during the 2026/27 academic year. Periods of international mobility are also counted toward the ten-month requirement if covered by a lease agreement. If you are enrolled in a PhD program, you are considered off-site regardless of your place of residence.

Students who wish to confirm their status for scholarship purposes:

1. must follow the instructions in Article 8 of the Regional Scholarships 2026/2027 Call
2. complete the Accommodation Status Declaration 2026/2027 (see the link at the bottom of this text).

The form may be submitted during one of the following periods:

• from 31 July 2026 until 12 pm on 9 October 2026, to verify the correct assignment of “off-site” status in the final rankings of December 2026;
• from 15 October 2026 until 12 pm on 15 November 2026, to verify the correct assignment of “off-site” status in the reformulated rankings.

Please note

• Students are advised to complete the form carefully and ensure that the documentation provided is accurate.
• For tenancy agreements signed in Italy, applicants must upload the registration receipt issued by the Agenzia delle Entrate (Italian Revenue Agency), including any receipt relating to an extension or takeover, where applicable.
• Please do not upload the Richiesta di registrazione e adempimenti successivi (Request for Registration and Subsequent Formalities); only the official registration receipt will be accepted.
• Fields relating to international mobility and curricular traineeships should be completed only by students who will take part in these activities and intend to use paid tenancy agreements for accommodation at a location other than that of their degree programme and away from their place of residence, in order to meet the 10-month requirement specified in the call for applications.
• The form may be submitted only once (either during the first or the second submission period). 
• The 2026/2027 academic year starts on 1 October 2026 and ends on 30 September 2027.
• Students who fill out the form after October 9, 2026, will have their status updated with the reformulated rankings in May.

Students can check the link above ("Classification of Municipalities") to see which category their municipality of residence falls into.
International students residing abroad do not need to search for their municipality on the list; instead, they must enter their city of residence abroad on the SPIN portal and indicate their Italian domicile.

All submitted status will be verified and, if necessary, modified by the Diritto allo Studio office before and after the scholarship rankings are published.

If you participate in international exchange programs, you will be considered an off-site student for the duration of your stay abroad, provided you submit the required documentation. For example, if you come from a municipality classified as a commuter area, you must sign an Erasmus contract for a ten-month international exchange - and no less - to be considered an off-site student for the purposes of determining your scholarship amount.

Only for those who qualify as off-site students (whose residence is classified as such in the specified charts) may the Erasmus contract be shorter than ten months; however, the remaining period (up to a total of 10 months) must be covered by a lease agreement near the university for the duration of your stay in Italy.
Periods spent abroad on internships and work placements are also considered toward the required 10-month lease term.
Finally, please note that the requirement to submit a housing lease agreement applies to leases signed during international exchange programs, internships, or work placements, just as it does for those signed in Italy.

You can submit multiple leases to meet the required 10-month period; your first and last name must always appear among the tenants on each individual lease.
