The bachelor's degree in Design at Università Iuav di Venezia, Vicenza campus, is among the winners of the XXIX ADI Compasso d'Oro Award, the most prestigious Italian award dedicated to design. The award ceremony took place on 22 May at the ADI Design Museum in Milan.

The prize was awarded to +Vicini da lontano, an initiative promoted by Anako APS and developed in collaboration with Università Iuav di Venezia, DUOC UCin Chile, Universidad Nacional de Córdoba in Argentina, and Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Colombia. The collective project focused on developing solutions for emergencies and social fragility, involving more than 500 students in a shared social design journey.

+Vicini da lontano selected the projects Wave Cup and Bloodbalance, both created within the Industrial Production Design Laboratory led by Alessia Buffagni.
Bloodbalance, designed by Matilde Ambra, Valentina Liani, and Sabrina Piai, is a foldable holder for blood transfusion drip bags, conceived for emergency contexts where hospitals are inaccessible — for instance, in the aftermath of natural disasters or earthquakes. The device, stable and easy to transport, consists of a single laser-cut expandable module that can be assembled in just a few minutes. 
Wave Cup, developed by Elisa Lovato, Sofia Martina Milenkovic, and Fabiana Zelletta, is an emergency lamp powered by salt water, designed in response to the frequent power outages affecting the Gaza Strip. The system uses a cap that fits onto a standard plastic bottle: through an electrochemical mechanism, it powers an LED strip, generating light simply and sustainably. The device is made from recycled plastic polymers.

Valerio Vinaccia of Anako noted: "What was recognised was not a single object, but a social design system created to respond to real needs in contexts of emergency, migration, and vulnerability."

Laura Badalucco, coordinator of the bachelor's degree, commented: "When Valerio Vinaccia first told me about +Vicini da lontano by ANAKO APS, it struck me as a profound and clear-sighted idea — the kind that grows out of genuine experience, out of successes and failures — and I felt it was important to get involved. Students designed products intended to help refugees and people facing emergency situations. The results impressed us, and Valerio selected two Iuav projects for the Anako association: Bloodbalance and Wave Cup. These two products, together with Kanguro, were included in the +Vicini da lontano platform, which has now won the Compasso d'Oro. It is a shared achievement and a shared award, because Anako aims to design and work together to bring dignity, safety, and autonomy to those who are most vulnerable. We are truly honoured by this recognition."
