Welcome to Università Iuav di Venezia, a prestigious university located in the heart of Venice – a unique city renowned worldwide for its history, culture, and experimental approach to architecture, design, planning and the arts.
Università Iuav di Venezia promotes internationalisation through Double Degree (DD) programmes, developed in cooperation with selected international partner universities. These programmes offer students the opportunity to experience an integrated academic path and obtain two officially recognised degrees.
What is a Double Degree Programme?
A Double Degree programme is an integrated study pathway jointly designed by Università Iuav di Venezia and a partner university, and regulated by a specific bilateral agreement.
Students enrolled in a DD programme:
follow a shared curriculum agreed upon by both institutions;
complete study periods at both universities, with predefined duration and content;
benefit from mutual recognition of exams and other academic activities (such as laboratories…).
Upon successful completion of the programme and final examinations, students are awarded two academic degrees from both institutions.
Mobility rules, academic requirements and study plans are defined by the agreement signed between Iuav and each partner university. Current and past agreements are available on the Iuav website dedicated to international partnerships.
Eligibility and Mobility Requirements
Access to Double Degree mobility is subject to annual selection calls issued by the partner universities.
DD programmes require a mobility of a full academic year (2 semesters)
During the mobility period, students usually receive a scholarship awarded by the sending university, calculated according to the duration of the stay at Iuav (generally covering up to 10 continuous months).

Iuav courses
Iuav offers both Italian and English taught courses.
The grades for subject exams are measured in thirtieths (0-30 scale), the minimum passing grade is 18/30 and the maximum grade is 30/30. The maximum grade can be enhanced with “cum laude” (30 cum laude).
University study courses are structured in credits. A university credit (CFU) is usually equivalent to 25 hours of study by a student, including individual study in the total. The average quantity of academic work performed by a full-time student in one year is by convention measured as 60 CFUs.
Upon arrival, students must report to the Global Learning Office to complete the enrolment procedures.
Students should bring the following documents (if not already submitted):
– copy of ID or passport;
– Application Form;
– Learning Agreement;
– Transcript of Records from the sending University
In Italy, a tax code is an identification tool employed when dealing with public administrations. It is a 16-digit alphanumeric code: each letter and number encode the user’s personal details (surname, name, gender, birthplace and date of birth).
This code is required in order to:
– register to the National Health System;
– open a bank account;
– rent a room/home.
International students can request their tax code in one of the following ways:
– to the Italian diplomatic-consular mission in their country;
– directly through Iuav (in this case, the University will send instructions on how to do it).
Non-EU students are personally responsible for completing immigration procedures within 8 days of arrival, applying for a residence permit.
The International Office might provide the student with the documents she/he will need to complete and then send to the immigration office.
When arrived at Iuav, the incoming students will be put in contact with a Iuav Buddy who can help incoming students integrate in the new experience in Venice.
