Iuav is among Europe’s leading academic institutions, excelling in the education of creative talents and in the field of fashion studies.
The Master’s degree programme, in Italian and English, prepares an internationally oriented professional profile capable of addressing changes in fashion as a cultural, creative, and productive system. It draws on the heritage of Made in Italy, taking into account the most pressing issues of contemporary society, through an extensive network of relationships with industry.
The programme is structured as a collaborative learning community and articulates into two pathways: Fashion Design and Fashion Ecologies. Fashion Design fosters creative and critical autonomy, experimental design practices, and a solid cultural awareness. Fashion Ecologies offers practical and theoretical skills to guide the transition of the fashion system toward innovative models that prioritise responsibility, social equity, well-being, and sustainability.
Hands-on workshops and studio practice provide students with the opportunity to develop individual projects and to engage with collective design experiences. Design activities are individually supervised by faculty members, including professionals and experts. The programme regularly collaborates with companies, institutions, universities and research centres, archives, and museums, enabling students to fulfil their internships.
The programme qualifies students for a variety of professional roles in the fashion field, including: fashion designer in companies or for one’s own brand; creative direction; curation of cultural projects in public or private institutions, such as museums, foundations, fashion centres and fashion shows; sustainability officer in the fashion sector; research in material driven design; eco-design and expert of product life cycle; management of fashion archives and fashion community manager.
The degree programme also grants access to PhD programmes and supports pathways into research and academia.
