The course in Communication and Fashion New Media focuses on issues related to communication and curating, looking directly at the intangible aspects that define new aspects of fashion and of its visual culture

 

The course in Communication and Fashion New Media focuses on issues related to communication and curating, looking directly at the intangible aspects that define new aspects of fashion and of its visual culture.

Students will learn to investigate and understand the new questions and issues that pertain to the transformations of contemporary society and culture, analyzing both the theoretical tools of communication, and the practices and professions of communication itself.

Teaching will be theoretical and practical as well, alternating workshops and lectures and seminars conducted by fashion professionals and scholars with knowledge and experience in fashion communication in relation to cultural studies and visual culture, from paper publishing to web and social media, from graphic design to data visualization processes, from retail design to archive-related practices in the direction of conservation, imagination and design.

The program is completed by an internship that can be carried out by choosing from the numerous companies, editorial platforms and cultural institutions affiliated with the university.

 

careers and further studies

Students will acquire the expertise to apply for junior positions across a very wide spectrum of careers in fashion, especially editors, stylists, multimedia content designers, web contributors, retail / visual merchandiser, event organizers, fashion curators. After the BA course, graduates can pursue postgraduate studies at Iuav, enrolling in the master's degree in Visual Arts and Fashion, or the master's degree in Theater and Performing Arts.
