Towards the Construction of a Reasoned Atlas of
Destruction

‘Destruction’ is today a central term in the vocabulary of
architecture and indicates the great adversary of the continuous process of
modification of the natural environment for anthropic needs. The tutorial
intends to understand how destruction, its threat but also its tragic
implementation, has been in the recent past, and can become, an active engine
for the rethinking of urban spaces and territorial structures in the imminent
future. Building an atlas of urban destruction makes it possible to provide
oneself with a fundamental tool not so much for understanding a past (in any
case little explored), but mainly for planning a future in which significant
destruction of urban fragments will become the norm rather than the exception.
The contribution identifies a number of design tools capable of orienting
navigation in past and future destructions in order to be able to effectively
face the great adversary.
