Designed as a complex architectural event, the Nová Ruda Kindergarten
building emphasises the dynamic role of living. The building is an intense
microcosm that restrains itself and remains sober in form and colour to give
the children who live in it and walk through it the space to explore the
potential of imagination, building new and unexpected relationships. Thanks to
its outer veil, the project plays with different devices that continue to
enhance the spatial experience, offering large open views, high ceilings, but
also smaller rooms and hiding places. It is not only the act of blurring itself
that is stimulating. These relationships are the means to enchant the world,
because they manage to transform meaningless distances into something personal
and existential. There is also an intimacy that comes from the individual
experience of choosing how to move around in the interior spaces. Therein lies
the magic: perceiving space in a place that is delicate enough to contain such
powerful movement.
