The Grand Canal was once again the stage for great university sport. On the occasion of the Regata Storica on Sunday 6 September, the mixed crew of the Venetian Universities (Università Iuav di Venezia and Università Ca' Foscari Venezia – CUS Venezia) took first place in the twenty-second edition of the International University Rowing Challenge, raced aboard the traditional galleons.

Successfully representing Università Iuav di Venezia aboard the winning boat were Alice Borioni and Matilde Stangherlin, respectively a student and a recent graduate of the master's degree in Fashion.

The competition also saw the participation of teams from the University of Padua, the University of Vienna and the University of Warwick, once again confirming itself as an important occasion for exchange and celebration, where Venetian rowing tradition intertwines with sport and the international dimension of higher education.
