Artist and Iuav professor Diego Tonus joined Arts at CERN as guest artist and visited several CERN sites with Giulia Bini, Head of Arts at CERN.
During his research trip at CERN, Tonus explored infrastructures and robotic imaging technologies used to investigate inaccessible environments and to visualise subatomic particles, while also inquiring into advanced materials. These encounters sparked further reflections on their implications for emerging technological devices, particularly in high-speed memory and energy storage systems shaping the future of memory through the accelerated velocity of data sharing and storage.
The dialogues with CERN scientists will inform the production of The Excavation of Thought, a new series comprising a film developed through robotic scanning technologies and a series of large graphene monotype prints - an advanced material that serves simultaneously as a carrier of memory and energy.
