From 1 to 17 July, ten students from the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture took part in WAVe 2026, the summer architectural design workshops organised by Università Iuav di Venezia, thanks to funding provided through the Erasmus+ programme (2023-1-IT02-KA171-HED-000136675).
The programme was preceded, on 17 June, by an online preparatory session led by Jacopo Galli, Iuav lecturer and academic tutor for the Kyiv partnership, together with Simone Gobbo, scientific coordinator of WAVe 2026.
The delegation was accompanied by faculty members Larysa Bridnia and Tetyana Kashchenko, who visited Iuav under the Erasmus+ Teaching Staff Incoming mobility programme. They participated in the seminar Learning and Teaching Architecture, dedicated to the exchange of teaching methods and educational experiences between the two universities.
The experience took place within an international environment that brought together students and faculty from Serbia, Spain, the United States, South Korea, Chile and India, fostering dialogue between different cultures and approaches to architectural design.
All participants followed WAVe's intensive educational model, based on collaborative design studios where they explored new ways of living, construction techniques and architectural solutions capable of responding to the transformations of the contemporary city.
The 2026 edition, entitled Balance, invited participants to reflect on the relationship between stability and change, memory and innovation, the natural and the artificial, interpreting architecture as a relational and adaptive tool capable of addressing the challenges of the present.
For Università Iuav di Venezia, the Erasmus+ Short Mobility programme linked to WAVe represents an important opportunity to strengthen its collaboration with the Kyiv National University of Construction and Architecture, supporting the education of students and faculty while promoting design skills aimed at the regeneration of urban spaces and the reduction of inequalities.
