In Venice, the main mode of transportation is walking or using the public water transport service. To travel to the mainland (Mestre and surrounding areas), many bus and tram lines are available from the Piazzale Roma terminal.
Mobility in Venice is sustainable, as people mostly move around on foot or by using the public navigation service (waterbuses vaporetti). To reach the historic city from the mainland, a network of urban and suburban buses is available, arriving and departing from Piazzale Roma. With the Venezia Unica card, you can access discounted public transportation fares, both for waterbuses in the historic centre and for urban transport lines on the mainland. Visit the AVM website, register in the personal area, and follow the instructions you’ll receive by email.
If you study in Venice, the Municipality offers a special reduced fee for the issuance of the Venezia Unica card, valid for 5 years.
