Curricular internship activation process
The curricular internship is designed for students enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program and aims to enhance academic learning through practical work experience. The duration of the internship varies according to the student’s specific course of study.
Registration of the host Institution on the Iuav SPIN portal
If the institution is not yet affiliated with Iuav, it must complete the registration and submit an accreditation request through the Iuav SPIN portal (Menu → Company Accreditation → Submit Accreditation Request).
Within 24 hours of registering, the institution will receive an email with credentials to access the University’s online services, followed shortly by the accreditation agreement or letter of intent requiring signature.
Internship agreement (italian institutions) or Letter of intent (foreign institutions)
Internship offer
If the host institution has already identified an intern, it can proceed directly with the completion of the training project.
If the host institution has not yet identified an intern, it can post an internship offer on the Iuav SPIN portal (Menu → Internships → New Opportunity) and select the intern from the applications received. At that point, it proceeds with the completion of the training project.
Training project
The training project, completed online through the Iuav SPIN portal by the host institution (Menu → Internships → Internship with a specific student), outlines the activities, objectives, duration, schedule, and total hours of the internship. After submission, the training project is reviewed and approved by the Career Service.
Once approved, the student receives an email notification with instructions on how to download the PDF document. The student is responsible for securing all required signatures (student’s, company tutor’s, and university tutor’s) and for submitting the fully signed document to the Career Service before the internship begins.
Important: Internship activities conducted without an approved and signed training project, or outside the specified hours, will not be recognized by the University.
Limitations
The system sets the first available internship starting date as two weeks after the submission of the training project, as this is the time required to formalize the procedure.
All internship activities must be conducted entirely on-site at the host organization’s premises.
In accordance with current regulations, the maximum number of interns allowed depends on the size of the organization:
Training course on prevention and safety at work (only for internships carried out in Italy)
The University provides the intern with the mandatory general training course on health and safety in the workplace. It is the host organization’s responsibility to provide the intern with any specific safety training required based on the level of risk involved.
If the student does not complete the minimum required internship hours by the scheduled end date, the company may request an extension through the Iuav SPIN portal (Menu → My Internships → Extensions and Suspensions). The extension must commence on the day following the original end date and must be requested prior to that date. Likewise, a temporary suspension of the internship may be requested in cases of justified necessity.
At the conclusion of the internship, the student must submit the required final documentation to the Career service within 30 days for internship certification.
The host istitution is asked to validate the attendance register by signing and stamping it, and to provide a brief evaluation report on the intern and their performance.
