Saltpans Machines: Staging (in) the Alto Adriatico System

International symposium

Badoer, aula Tafuri

The international symposium “Saltpans Machines: Staging (in) the Alto Adriatico System” aims to analyze the cultural and landscape value of saltpans as a complex system and their role as territorial and environmental entities.

The event aims to outline methodologies for identifying the principles through which to weave a multiscalar interpretive framework and design narrative, aimed not only at understanding the territorial and marine structure but, simultaneously, at interpreting and reinventing the entire land-water system.
Particular attention is given to the risks and challenges posed by climate change, as well as the potential new environmental roles that these sites may trigger.

The multi-voiced discussion of methods and approaches on the theme “Saltpans” brings together the members of the research unit, the visiting professor, experts, and the network of partners involved, and explores, through an interdisciplinary approach, the role of saltpans as a spatial device and a mediating figure between artifice and nature.
