Rowing Challenge 2026 – 15th International Universities Rowing Race

The crew of the Venetian universities challenges the universities of Padua, Vienna and Warwick

The International Universities Rowing Race returns to the Grand Canal aboard historical galleons on the occasion of the Historical Regatta.

In the 2026 edition, alongside the crew made up of athletes from the Venetian Universities – CUS Venezia, the University of Padua, the University of Vienna and the University of Warwick will also compete.

The race is held over a course of about 750 meters, starting from Rialto bridge and arriving in front of Ca' Foscari. It is organised in two stages: a qualifying stage of heats to determine the crews for the last final, which will award 1st and 2nd place, and the first final, which will award 3rd and 4th place; a final stage consisting of a single race over the 750-meter course to establish the final ranking.

Representing Università Iuav di Venezia will be Alice Borioni and Matilde Stangherlin, respectively a student and a graduate of the master's degree in Fashion.
