Narratives of Desire

Mythologies of Distance, group exhibition

Terese

Mythologies of Distance / Narratives of Desire explores how intimacy, desire, and human connection are imagined, constructed, and negotiated across physical and digital spaces.
Drawing on mythological and philosophical understandings of desire as shaped by absence and longing, the exhibition considers how our relationships and identities increasingly adopt the logic and structures of the apps and platforms through which they are mediated. Through photography, sculpture, installation, text, and performance, the participating artists explore the body as an image, a fragment, a memory, and a site of projection, reflecting on vulnerability, self-representation, exposure and concealment, and the desire to see and be seen. Moving between presence and absence, the exhibition invites reflection on how we experience intimacy and how the technologies designed to connect us influence the ways we desire, perceive ourselves, and relate to others.
