Honorary Degree Awarded in Memory of Eleonora Bigon

On Monday 14 September, at 2.30 pm, the Aula Magna at Tolentini will host the ceremony for the conferment of an honorary degree in Product, Visual Communication and Interior Design upon Eleonora Bigon.

The degree is being awarded on the proposal of the degree programme’s coordination team, in agreement with the Academic Faculty Board and with the approval of the Academic Senate of Università Iuav di Venezia. The award celebrates the student’s commitment, determination and extraordinary passion throughout her academic career. Eleonora passed away on the very day of her final examination, which she completed with the highest mark and honours, less than a month before the defence of her master's thesis, scheduled for July 2026.

A bright and enthusiastic student, Eleonora saw design as an opportunity for experimentation and innovation, always approaching her work with rigour and a strong sense of responsibility. Her research was distinguished by particular attention to the needs of contemporary living, together with a constant focus on sustainability and the circular economy.

The ceremony will be attended by Rector Benno Albrecht, Director of Teaching Giuseppe D’Acunto, the degree programme’s coordination team, Eleonora’s family, as well as members of the University’s faculty, students and academic community. During the event, Eleonora’s fellow students will present her thesis project, giving voice to her work and ensuring that its value is shared and remembered.

The ceremony is open to the entire academic community and to the public.
