The university may grant part-time student status to students enrolled in Bachelor's and Master's degree programs who cannot regularly attend courses and other educational activities that require physical presence at university locations, provided the required criteria are met.

Part-time enrolment applies per academic year. It cannot be changed during the ongoing academic year, but it can be modified in subsequent academic years within the last year of current enrolment. Unless otherwise specified, the choice made is also valid for the academic years following the one in which the option was exercised.

Part-time enrolment allows students to obtain an academic degree over a longer period than the standard duration: for undergraduate programs (bachelor's), 45 credits must be acquired for each academic year, for a total of four academic years; for graduate programs (master's), 40 credits must be acquired for each academic year, for a total of three academic years. 
Part-time enrolment does not affect the standard duration of the degree program for pension purposes. Part-time students must attend educational activities according to the rules set by the academic regulations of their degree program. However, the competent academic body may provide, if deemed appropriate, alternative teaching methods, study assistance, and tutoring.

Part-time students are subject to the specific provisions established for them by the legislation on the right to higher education, particularly regarding canteen fees and scholarship amounts, which may differ from those applied to full-time students.

To opt for part-time enrolment or to revert to full-time status, students must send the relevant form available for download on this page, along with a copy of an identity document, via email to studenti.carriere@iuav.it.
The form and its attachments must be submitted between the deadline for the first tuition fee instalment for enrolment in the academic year and December 20, 2026.
