The product
design track focuses on the design of integrated systems of products,
systems and services, with an eye to social content and economic change. It
covers topics such as designing with new technologies and digital, sustainable
design related to renewable energy and inclusion, with a focus on how to
interact with and manage know-how.
On the one
hand, the aim is to design with innovative technologies, considering, among
other things, the ongoing change regarding 'manufacturing 4.0', IoT, and the use
of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence; on the other hand, to build an
operational and cultural awareness of the strategic role of systemic, responsible
and ethical action, with the support of a wide offer
of theoretical, historical and critical courses.
Special
importance is given to the particular areas of intervention of SMEs in the
region and related relationships and issues.
The study
programme is also supported by specific labs where students learn how to
make models and prototypes of their project (metal, ceramic, wood, audio,
photo, video, physical computing), thus testing design, production, and
research challenges in concrete terms.
