studying planning and urban design

The first school of urban planning in Italy was established at Università Iuav di Venezia in 1970.

Planning and urban design deal with issues that are part of our life: the themes of urban, environmental, territorial, and landscape quality are now associated with the local-global relationship, the interactions between society and the city, social inclusion, urban innovation, climate change, decarbonisation, the management of extreme events and the reduction of risks in cities, also in response to pandemics, and urban metabolism, thanks to the use of the most advanced technologies offered by GIScience, to design the cities of tomorrow in a rapidly changing global scenario.

Planning and urban design study programmes provide high-level training to enter the labour market that increasingly requires specialised knowledge to design and plan the transformation of cities and the territory, primarily with an ecological transition perspective.
