studying visual arts in Venice
Iuav offers a unique method and study track in the visual arts in
Italy, characterised by a
constant interaction between theory and practice.
Students are introduced to techniques and expressive languages of various art forms and can create their first personal creations
under the guidance of high-level lecturers and professionals.
During the two-year master's degree course,
students will understand and develop their talents and will be able to
choose among various paths as artists or as video-makers, webmasters, curators,
art theorists, and museum and art gallery officers.
Internationally renowned theorists, lecturers,
professionals, and artists are among the lecturers
of the visual arts track.
Active collaborations include the Venice Biennale, the Turin Triennale, Palazzo Grassi –
Punta della Dogana, Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Museo del Castello di Rivoli,
Arte Fiera in Bologna and international institutions as
Documenta and Manifesta.
It is also possible to activate collaborations
with foundations, galleries and museums identified by the students.
the visual arts track
The
talent of the artist, but also the organisational skills of the curator:
this is the core principle of the visual arts track.
Students
acquire a critical awareness of the different languages that shape contemporary design and
production of visual art, from photography to film, from performance to digital
and representation. They learn how to use these languages both as a means of
expression and tools for non-verbal communication. They become familiar with
art-making to start a career as visual artists and with exhibition management
to become critics and curators.
The
lecturers of the theoretical courses work as researchers in semiotics, art theory,
philosophy of science, or aesthetics.
Labs and workshops - conducted by curators and artists from the international art world - are
organised according to the most advanced international experiences of
practice-led research in the visual arts.
The
study programme includes internships and placements at Italian and international
art institutions.
careers
The
visual arts track is open to students who wish to pursue a professional career as artists, those who want to
