Nella sua pratica processuale, l’archiviazione č vista come gesto ossessivo e creativo. Questo metodo caratterizza una produzione di sculture, fotografie, performance e film, in cui modalitā del racconto e il suo contenuto vengono analizzate come strumenti di potere e manipolazione

research interests

in his practice, he uses reproduction as an investigative tool to question systems of control and power structures present in everyday life. In his process based practice, archiving is seen as an obsessive and creative gesture. This method characterizes a production of sculptures, photographs, performance and film, in which the modes of storytelling and its content, are analyzed as instruments of power and manipulation

Diego Tonus ha studiato Arti visive all’Universitā Iuav di Venezia e al Sandberg Institute di Amsterdam. Fra le sue mostre personali si ricordano quelle presso CSAC Museo e Archivio Parma (2023); Whitechapel Gallery Londra (2020); STROOM Den Haag (2019); Van Eyck Maastricht (2019); Ellen de Bruijne (2018); ar/ge kunst Bolzano (2017); Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (2013). Ha partecipato a mostre collettive in istituzioni internazionali fra cui MAXXI Roma (2023); TENT Rotterdam (2020); Biennale di Mosca (2018); Quadriennale di Roma (2016); WIELS Brussels (2015); De Appel Amsterdam (2015); CCA Singapore (2014); Palais de Tokyo (2013); Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Torino (2013) e Kunstverein Nürnberg (2013). I suoi film sono stati presentati internazionalmente incluso presso Hammer Museum LA (2016) e Kunsthalle Gwangju (2011). Tonus ha partecipato a residenze quali Van Eyck Maastricht; WIELS Brussels; Fondazione Spinola Banna; Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa Venezia e Real Presence Belgrado. L’artista č stato nominato per premi quali PAC2021; Italian Council (2018); Centrale Fies (2015) e Premio Furla (2012). Fra le sue pubblicazioni: Da Stato A Stato (Electa 2023); Never Again (Mousse Publishing 2020); Fragments of a Conversation with a Counterfeiter (Roma Publications 2019); The Presidents’ Hammers (Roma Publications 2018); I, the Dog of my Master (MER 2015); Five Cases of Intrusion (Archive Books 2014). Collezioni pubbliche: MAMbo Bologna, CSAC Parma, MAXXI Roma, MoMA Mosca.

 

 

Diego Tonus studied Visual Arts at Universitā Iuav di Venezia, and at the Sandberg Institute Amsterdam. Solo shows include those at the CSAC Museum and Archive Parma (2023); Whitechapel Gallery London (2020); STROOM Den Haag (2019); Van Eyck Maastricht (2019); Ellen de Bruijne Projects (2018); ar/ge kunst Bozen (2017); Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam (2013). He has participated in group exhibitions including at MAXXI Rome (2023); TENT Rotterdam (2020); MAMbo Bologna (2018); Rome Quadrennial (2016); WIELS, Brussels (2015); De Appel (2015); CCA Singapore (2014); Palais de Tokyo (2013); Fondazione Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Turin (2013) and Kunstverein Nürnberg (2013). His films have been presented internationally including at the Hammer Museum LA (2016) and Kunsthalle Gwangju (2011).Tonus has been awarded residencies at Van Eyck Maastricht; WIELS Brussels; Fondazione Spinola Banna; Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa Venice and Real Presence Belgrade.
