Le ricerche si concentrano sulle forme e i processi di trasformazione degli insediamenti, sul rapporto tra politiche di welfare e spazio urbano, sui nuovi spazi del lavoro. La ricerca è stata affiancata da consulenze per la redazione di piani urbanistici: Venezia, Feltre, Ferrara, Casarano, Macerata, Brescia, Pesaro. Più di recente si occupa dei processi di transizione della città e del territorio e in particolare della Laguna di Venezia

her research activities focus on forms and processes of settlement transformation, the relationship between welfare policies and urban space, and the new spaces for work. Research has been accompanied by consultancy on urban plan drafting: Venice, Feltre, Ferrara, Casarano, Macerata, Brescia, and Pesaro. More recently, she has been investigating the transition processes of the city and the territory and in particular of the Venice Lagoon

Maria Chiara Tosi insegna urbanistica all'Università Iuav di Venezia dove dirige la scuola di dottorato, coordina il dottorato in urbanistica e il cluster di ricerca CityLab. Rappresenta l’Università Iuav di Venezia nel consiglio accademico di Venice International University.

Ha svolto attività di ricerca e didattica presso: Università di Catania, Università di Trento, ENSA Belleville, ULB Bruxelles, ETSAB Barcelona, UC Berkeley, Columbia University NY, Tongji University Shangai, CityU Hong Kong.

È stata valutatore per la Research Foundation Flanders FWO-Belgium, il College of Expert Reviewers dell'European Science Foundation, e attualmente è nella commissione per l’abilitazione scientifica nazionale nel macrosettore 08/F1.

Ha partecipato anche come principal investigator a progetti di ricerca nazionali e internazionali: Interreg IT-HR, Interreg IT-SL, Horizon 2020, FSE, Prin, Erasmus Strategic Partnership. E’ stata vice presidente di Vega-Parco scientifico e tecnologico di Venezia.

Collabora con università cinesi, partecipa al centro di ricerca URBES, (Iuav-Tongji), ed è responsabile del doppio titolo di laurea magistrale in architettura con CAUP-Tongji University.

È stata co-curatrice di mostre alla Bi-city Biennale Shenzhen (2019) alla Biennale di Architettura di Venezia (2018), alla Shanghai Urban Space Art Season (2017 e 2015).

È nel comitato scientifico del Journal of Architecture and Urbanism e dell’e-Journal of Urban and Landscape Planning.

Maria Chiara Tosi teaches urbanism at Università Iuav di Venezia, where she directs the doctoral school and coordinates the PhD in urbanism and the CityLab research cluster. She represents Università Iuav di Venezia on the academic council of Venice International University.

She has carried out research and teaching activities at the University of Catania, the University of Trento, ENSA Belleville, ULB Brussels, ETSAB Barcelona, UC Berkeley, Columbia University NY, Tongji University Shanghai, CityU Hong Kong.

She has been an evaluator for the Research Foundation Flanders FWO-Belgium, the College of Expert Reviewers of the European Science Foundation. She is currently on the Committee for National Scientific Qualification in Macrosector 08/F1.

She has also participated as a principal investigator in national and international research projects: Interreg IT-HR, Interreg IT-SL, Horizon 2020, ESF, Prin, and Erasmus Strategic Partnership. She was vice president of Vega-Parco scientifico e tecnologico di Venezia.

She collaborates with Chinese universities, participates in the URBES research centre (Iuav-Tongji), and is responsible for the double master's degree in architecture with CAUP-Tongji University.

She was co-curator of exhibitions at the Bi-city Biennale Shenzhen (2019), Venice Architecture Biennale (2018), and Shanghai Urban Space Art Season (2017 and 2015).

She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Architecture and Urbanism and the e-Journal of Urban and Landscape Planning.
