Nato a Trieste, dopo gli studi all’Università Iuav di Venezia e alla Technische Universität Berlin, è stato borsista al dottorato in composizione architettonica Iuav. Nel 2010 ha conseguito il titolo di dottore di ricerca con una tesi su Alexanderplatz a Berlino, con la supervisione di Luciano Semerani.

Dal 2011 al 2013, alla Technische Universität Hamburg, è stato cordinatore scientifico del dottorato interuniversitario “Kunst und Technick“, finanziato dalla DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) e consorziato dalle tre università amburghesi. Dal 2011 collabora con Hartmut Frank al progetto di ricerca Der ganze Behrens, sull’opera dell’architetto tedesco Peter Behrens. Dal 2013, grazie a un finanziamento della Camera degli architetti di Amburgo e a una borsa di studio della Sutor-Stiftung, ha condotto la prima ricerca monografica sull’opera dell’architetto Bernhard Hermkes i cui primi risultati sono stati presentati in una mostra che ha curato nel 2014 alla Freie Akademie der Künste di Amburgo. Nel 2018 come esito finale della ricerca è uscita la monografia Bernhard Hermkes, die Konstruktion der Form con l’editore Dölling und Galitz di Monaco.

Dal 2006 fa parte del centro studi ClassicA dell’Università Iuav di Venezia e dal 2007 è membro della redazione della rivista “Engramma. La tradizione classica nella memoria occidentale”.

Dal 2018 partecipa come tutor al collegio docenti e alle attività del dottorato di ricerca in Architettura, Città e Design, ambito di ricerca “Composizione architettonica”.

Dal 2020 è membro su invito del Deutscher Werkbund; dal 2021 fa parte della Heinrich Tessenow Gesellschaft. Ha partecipato come relatore a numerosi convegni nazionali e internazionali, tenuto lezioni e conferenze e ha organizzato e diretto workshop internazionali.

Ha curato numerose mostre in Germania e – negli Stati Uniti – ha curato una mostra presentata alla Biennale di architettura di Chicago nel 2020. In Italia ha collaborato a diverse esposizioni a Venezia (Iuav, ECC) e per la Triennale di Milano. Di recente ha contribuito alla mostra “Heinrich Tessenow. Annäherungen und ikonische Projekte”, curata da Martin Boesch all’Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio (CH).

Dal 2013 insegna progettazione architettonica e urbana alla HafenCity Universität di Amburgo, per la quale ha tenuto numerosi altri corsi (Teorie e tecniche della progettazione architettonica e urbana, Fondamenti della composizione, Caratteri tipologici e morfologici dell’architettura, et. al.).

From 2011 to 2013, at the Technische Universität Hamburg, he was the scientific coordinator of the inter-university doctorate “Kunst und Technik”, funded by the DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) in consortium with the three Hamburg universities. Since 2013, thanks to funding from the Hamburg Chamber of Architects and a grant from the Sutor-Stiftung, he conducted the first monographic research on the work of architect Bernhard Hermkes, the first results of which were presented in an exhibition he curated in 2014 at the Freie Akademie der Künste in Hamburg. In 2018 as the final result of the research, the monograph Bernhard Hermkes. die Konstruktion der Form was published with the Munich publisher Dölling und Galitz.

Since 2006 he has been a member of the Centro Studi ClassicA at the Università Iuav di Venezia and, since 2007, he has been a member of the editorial board of the journal Engramma. La tradizione classica nella memoria occidentale.

Since 2018 he has been participating as a tutor in the teaching board and activities of the doctorate in Architecture, City and Design, research field “Architectural Composition”.

Since 2020 he has been an invited member of the Deutscher Werkbund; since 2021 he has been a member of the Heinrich Tessenow Gesellschaft. He has participated as a researcher at numerous national and international conferences, given lectures and conferences, and organised and led international workshops.

He has curated numerous exhibitions in Germany and, in the USA, he curated an exhibition presented at the Chicago Architecture Biennial in 2020. Since 2013 he has been teaching architectural and urban design at the HafenCity Universität in Hamburg, for which he has taught numerous other courses (Theories and Techniques of Architectural and Urban Design, Fundamentals of Composition, Typological and Morphological Characters of Architecture, et. al.).
