KLABS – Study visit and workshop

From July 13th to July 15th, the 2nd KLABS Study Visit and Workshops will take place in Venice. During these three days, activities will include a workshop related to new curricula development, observation of advanced pedagogical practice, visit to the Iuav campus, and a public debate about sustainability and resilience at the Serbian Pavillon within the Biennale di Architettura 2016.

The project Creating the Network of Knowledge Labs for Sustainable and Resilient Environments (acronym KLABS) is capacity building action in the field of higher education, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.

The Universitą Iuav di Venezia is partner in the network led by the University of Priština temporarily settled in Kosovska Mitrovica. The other institutions participating in the project, which will last three years, are the Higher Technical Professional School in Zvečan (Kosovo); the State University of Novi Pazar and the University of Belgrade (Serbia); the Džemal Bijedić University of Mostar and the University of Banja Luka (Bosnia-Herzegovina); the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia); the RWTH Aachen University (Germany); the Delft University of Technology (Netherland); the University of Strathclyde Glasgow (UK).

The overall aim of the project KLABS is to support the modernisation of higher education in Western Balkan Region by implementing strategic approach in the development of innovative platform for the delivery of knowledge about sustainable and resilient environments.

Specific project objectives are the following:

– To develop, validate and implement innovative curricula in Western Balkan consortium institutions, adjusted to European and national standards and priorities, and realistic potentials,

– To introduce virtual mobility of students and staff in WB institutions,

– To produce, validate the quality and put into use the innovative educational material,

- To develop innovative tools, methodologies and approaches to education, including the studies of real-life cases, creation of virtual learning platforms and open educational resources,

– To develop innovative institutional capacities by founding and equipping the knowledge labs - Centres for Sustainable and Resilient Environments,

– To upgrade knowledge and skills of teaching/IT staff in order to ensure high quality exploitation of project outcomes, and

– To promote KLABS work and achievements.
