Akiko Fukai

Currently Director and Chief Curator of the Kyoto Costume Institute, Fukai majored in the History of Western Costume at the National University of Ochanomizu in Tokyo (master's degree), and studied Art History at the Universite de Paris IV (Institute des Arts et de l'Archeologie) in Paris. Fukai has organized several major costume exhibitions in Kyoto, Tokyo, Paris and New York, including Revolution in Fashion, Japonism in Fashion, Visions of the Body and Fashion in Colors, Luxury in fashion Resonsidered, Future Beauty 30 Years of Japanese Fashion.
