Becky E. Conekin

Becky E. Conekin, Ph.D., F.R.Hist.S., joined Yale in 2009. For the decade prior, she was Reader in Historical & Cultural Studies and for many years the Course Director of their MA in the History & Culture of Fashion at the London College of Fashion (LCF). She has published extensively in the history of fashion. In her time at LCF, she co-edited The Englishness of English Dress (2002) with Christopher Breward and the special 10th anniversary double issue of Fashion Theory dedicated to Vogue magazine (2006) with Amy de La Haye. Dr. Conekin is currently finishing Lee Miller in Fashion for Thames and Hudson and a contribution for Eugene Vernier: Fashion, Femininity & Form for Hirmer/Verlag. Her larger project is tentatively entitled Pretty Hard Work: A History Fashion Modeling from the Bomb to Bowie, supported by funds from the British Academy and the Leverhulme Trust.
