participants
I’m late but now I want to take part to blue in architecture 09. Can I?
Yes, you can. The most important thing is that you submit your registration by filling the on-line form before coming to help us to be ready.
You can find the registration form as participants here.
You have to pay the participation fee too. You can do this here.

Where can I find my pass to enter in Palazzo Badoer?
The first day of the symposium you’re invited to register at the welcome desk in the common room at the ground floor of Palazzo Badoer. There you will collect your badge to allow you to enter in the venue also on the next days: please remind to bring it with you for the whole symposium. If you can’t come on the first day but you’ve already registered, your badge will remain at your disposal also on next days.
I can’t understand English very well. Will be there a translator?
No, there won’t be one because the official language of the symposium is English, as we’ve ever written. At the same time, our moderators are invited to try to help everybody to understand as much as possible, translating the main parts of a paper, if strictly necessary.
Have I to choose in advance which round table I want to join?
No, you haven’t: you’re free to follow the papers that are more interesting for you. To help you in choosing the right topic, we will provide the collection of all the abstract, as digital or printed copy, in advance.
What do you mean with “other activities” in the schedule?
On Saturday 26th in the afternoon and on Sunday 27th in the morning we would propose to our participants and speakers some activities (city tour, museum tours, etc.) to help them to know Venice a bit better and to discover her special balance between water and architecture. Those activities are optional and extra-charge: we will propose them during the days of the symposium and collect the interested guests’ adhesions.
speakers
My paper will be presented during a plenary session. How long can I talk?
If you’ve been invited to take your speech in the morning, during the plenary session, you can use more or less 30 minutes to expose your research.
My paper will be presented during a round table. How long can I talk?
If you’ve been invited to take your speech in the afternoon, during the round tables session, you can use more or less 20 minutes to expose your research but the real time will depend on the number of people will have to talk with you.
We really wish the discussion after the expositions be stimulating and interesting so, please, try to leave enough time at everybody’s disposal.
Can I set a slide presentation up (using PowerPoint, for example)?
Yes, of course you can: you’re definitely invited to do this to be clearer.
Please note: we ask you all to use the computer provided in each room of the venue and not to try to connect your own to the projector. This just to avoid any possible technical problem and to be faster in skipping the speakers.
The computers by Palazzo Badoer run Windows XP and Microsoft Office 2003. Please, verify in advance the compatibility of your presentation with this version of the software (transitions, animations, fonts, etc.) not to risk to be less effective in your speech.
I don’t speak English. How can I take my speech the same?
The official language of the symposium is English as we’ve ever said. Anyway, most of our speakers are Italian so some round tables will be composed by Italian-speakers only and of course they can speak Italian.
But during the plenary sessions or if a not-Italian-speaker took part to your round tables, we ask you to try to expose your speech in English or, at least, to add some “subtitles” in English to your presentation to let the welcomed guests from foreigners countries follow your exposition.
I’d like to show the printed results of my research or sell one of my books during the symposium. Can I do this?
For the whole symposium, there will be a table in the common room to expose the results of your research: you can leave there some copies of a book/magazine/brochure/whatever else to let the other participants know your work. All the things on this “promotional table” will be for free or to be read and given back.
We can’t allow you to sell anything at the venue of the symposium but you can talk with the owner of the university bookshop (CLUVA) by the main building of the Università Iuav di Venezia (Tolentini 191, Santa Croce): he’s already aware about the symposium and will organize a special opening hour during blue spritz, that will take place at the same venue, Tolentini.
students
Have I to pay the participation fee?
No, you haven’t. We’ll be pleased to welcome a certain number of students as our guests.
How can I know if I’m in the number of students who will be admitted for free?
It’s easy: if you don’t receive any other communication by the organizing team after your on-line registration, you just have to come to Palazzo Badoer and collect your badge to be allowed to take part to the symposium. If you were out of the fixed number we’ll tell you.
Where can I find my pass to enter in Palazzo Badoer?
You can collect it the first day of the symposium at the registration desk for students in the common room at the ground floor of the venue. If you can’t come the first day, it will remain at your disposal also the subsequent days.
What am I allowed to do, once in the venue?
You can take part to all the plenary sessions and join the round tables. Particularly, we invite you to play an active role in those, without being afraid of posing your questions, to take a special advantage of the symposium in terms of learning and growing.
