The course is delivered through lectures and seminars focusing on the urban and territorial dimension of public policies.


Among the core topics of this course are:


the notion of urban governance

  urban governance in European cities

spatial icons defining the economic space of Europe: no more Blue Bananas?

the evolution of the European spatial development scheme perspective

the territorialisation of EU regional policy objectives in the several programming periods from the end of the ‘80s to the present day

towards a European urban and territorial agenda

national urban agendas in perspective: the cases of UK, France, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, the United States of America, Canada, China, Brazil

the strategic role that European institutions, like the EC, and international organizations (like UN-Habitat, OCSE, etc.) are playing in opening windows for national urban policy agendas in third countries, emerging countries.
