Language Services


The Master Course is taught in English, as official Consortium language. The MSP language policy aims at providing specific intensive language courses of each Term's local language (Italian, Portuguese and Spanish) so to enhance students’ integration in local environments. They will be delivered in each Term's location.


Each Partner University will offer Language courses of its country language, aiming at integrating with the local community.

Moreover, students can choose to attend courses of the country of the following Master location, so to be prepared for the next step. These courses will be delivered in the two final months of stay of the Term, so to be prepared for the next step.


The language policy aims: first, at improving the competence in the English language, with specific English support on scientific language; second, at improving skills in one European language (Italian, Spanish and Portuguese) which should be improved by courses, training activities and student personal work in each Universities linguistic facilities.

The language course aims at preparing students to recognized examination about skills acquired, according to standard international tests. Weekly local language conversations and informal sessions held by student collaborators will be organized to practice at different levels, from every day-life situations to discussions on a specific theme or to the reading of a newspaper.


Financial resources are allocated for Language courses organization, as Financial Plan, as the other activities as described above.

With respect to language facilities in hosting Universities, EMMCMSP students can access to services and facilities.

Specific information about the local language courses will be provided before the starting of the Master.



In Venice


Università Iuav di Venezia agrees on students’ access of the 'Centro Linguistico di Ateneo' (Language center, CLA) of the University of Ca' Foscari, based in Venice as well. CLA offers language courses which gives access to international qualification and to free grading tests. Moreover, a self-access laboratory, a technologically advanced media structure for language training, consists of two computer labs with more than 50 locations, designed to reinforce and practice language skills in the language courses offered to CLA and/or self-paced individual and independent of foreign languages;



In Seville


All Erasmus Mundus can follow a free language course in the Language Center from the University of Seville. They can choose two languages from those used in the master course. These courses are given twice a week from September to June so they can follow the course during the whole master course. The University of Seville has a Linguistic Policy Plan (PLUS) whose objective is to give the university community and its social surrounding the multilingual and multicultural competencies that are vital for an efficient response to the challenges posed by the process of integration into the sphere of European Higher Education. In this regard, the language teaching is fully defined by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages which emanates from the Council of Europe. The syllabi of all the courses offered by the Language Center conform to the Common European Framework (CEFRL).



In Azores


At the Universidade dos Açores, the Departamento de Línguas e Literaturas Modernas offers courses of Portoguese language, which lead to qualification according to the level awarded as follows: CIPLE – Certificado Inicial de Português; DEPLE – Diploma Elementar de Português Língua Estrangeira; DIPLE – Diploma Intermédio de Português; DAPLE – Diploma Avançado de Português; DUPLE – Diploma Universitário de Português. Moreover, Universidade dos Açores can offer Courses of Language, Portuguese culture and Azorean issues (Cursos de Língua e Cultura Portuguesas e Temáticas Açorianas), according to an agreement established between the University and the Secretaria Regional da Educação e Cultura, which can be enlarged to EMMCMSP students.

The Erasmus students staying in Ponta Delgada campus, who want to learn Portuguese can apply to PLE courses (Portuguese as Foreign Language), that have 6 ECTS.
