The
Graduate Degree Programme
in City and Environment: Planning and Policies aims at forming a professional
figure that is able to hold key
roles in the planning, coordination,
and consultancy processes
in the fields of local
planning, urban design, and landscape
and environmental design; a figure that is able
to interact with a public and private clientele, as well as
with both expert and non-expert audiences.
The programme is structured
in four parts.
The
first semester (common to all
tracks) focuses on the transformation policies of cities, territories, and environments. Students will study policy developments in all their various
social and legal implications.
The study plan presents
classroom-taught lessons
— on Economic and Environmental
Policies, Environmental Law
and Local Government, etc. — and important educational workshop experiences
that will lead the students to propose
policy projects.
The second and third semesters present more in-depth disciplinary studies. These studies are aimed at building up skills that are specific to Urban and Regional Planning (first track)
and to Environment (second track),
and will also develop through intensive and interactive workshop activities.
In order to promote a further opening of the educational experience
to more advanced and innovative planning practices, the graduate programme
provides the organisation
of various workshops and summer
schools. These will take place between the first and second year of the programme, and both in Iuav premises
and associated institutions
abroad.
The fourth and last semester is dedicated to the students’ internships (a
first important step in the
professional world) and thesis
preparation.
