Paola Vigan˛, architect and urbanist, is Full Professor in Urbanism at UniversitÓ IUAV of Venice. Guest professor in several schools of Architecture (KU Leuven and Louvain-la-Neuve Belgium;á EPFL Lausanne, Switzerland; Aarhus Danemark, Harvard GSD……), she is coordinator of the PhD in Urbanism at IUAV. Lectures in many symposia and International schools of Architecture.

In 2005 she is among the founders of the European Postgraduate Master in Urbanism EMU (a joint program among UPC Barcelona, TU Delft, KU Leuven, UniversitÓ IUAV, Venezia) where she teaches. The EMU is focused on the centrality of design in the urban and territorial process and reflection.

She is part of the scientific committee of the ╔cole nationale supÚrieure d'architecture et de paysage (Lille) and of the cole Nationale SupÚrieure du Paysage (Versailles). In 2013 she is Chaire Francqui at UCL (Louvain la Neuve). After being finalist in 2010 she is Grand Prix de l’Urbanisme et de l’Art Urbain 2013.

 

In 1990 she founded Studio together with Bernardo Secchi and has won several international competitions (among the realized projects: the park Spoornoord and Theaterplein in Antwerp, a system of public spaces in Mechelen, the cemetery in Courtrai, the public spaces in La Courrouze, Rennes…). Studio is today working on different projects in Europe (Zac Courrouze in Rennes, Galgenwel park and New South Masterplaná in Antwerp…). In 2009 Secchi and Vigan˛ have been one of the 10 teams selected for the “Grand Paris project” and for the “New Moscow” in 2012. She is today part of the scientific committee of the Atelier International du Grand Paris.
