Silvio Nocera Ŕ professore associato di economia applicata presso il Dipartimento di Culture del progetto dell’UniversitÓ Iuav di Venezia. Si Ŕ laureato con lode in Ingegneria civile presso l'UniversitÓ della Basilicata nel 2000, e ha conseguito il dottorato di ricerca con lode in Trasporti presso la Technische Universitńt MŘnchen (2004). ╚ stato assegnista di ricerca all’UniversitÓ Iuav di Venezia fino al 2010, anno in cui Ŕ diventato ricercatore universitario in Trasporti, prima di ricoprire dal giugno 2016 l’attuale posizione.

 

Presso l’UniversitÓ Iuav di Venezia, tiene corsi di Trasporti (dal 2007) e di Pianificazione dei trasporti (dal 2014). Dal 2008, Ŕ docente all’interno del master “Transportation Systems” della Technische Universitńt MŘnchen. In pi¨, ha tenuto lezioni o seminari presso il Dipartimento di Pianificazione dei trasporti della Technische Universitńt Wien di Vienna (2015), alla Sauder School of Business della University of British Columbia di Vancouver (2016), presso la FacoltÓ di Trasporti della Gediminas Technical University di Vilnius (2016). SarÓ anche visiting professor presso la FacoltÓ di Ingegneria civile e ambientale della Drexel University di Philadelphia (2017).

 

I suoi interessi di ricerca coprono la valutazione economica dei sistemi di trasporto, i costi esterni del trasporto (ha approfondito particolarmente la valutazione dell’anidride carbonica e dei suoi effetti sul global warming), big data e trasporti, i sistemi di trasporto pubblico a domanda debole, il trasporto merci e l’intermodalitÓ; i sistemi di trasporto intelligente e la valutazione della qualitÓ del trasporto pubblico. I suoi lavori sono stati pubblicati su alcune importanti riviste del settore, come Transport Policy, Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment, Research in Transportation Economics, Journal of Advanced Transportation.

 

Egli Ŕ risultato vincitore dell’edizione 2016 del Canadian-Italian Innovation Award promosso dal Governo del Canada, con il progetto “The effects of climate change on transportation and adaptation policies”. Fa infine parte dell’editorial board delle riviste “European Transport\Trasporti Europei” ed “Heliyon”.

 

 

Silvio Nocera is an associate professor of Applied Economics in the Department for Architecture and Arts at UniversitÓ Iuav di Venezia.

 

Having graduated in 2000 from University of Basilicata with a MSc in Civil Engineering, he obtained a PhD in Transport Engineering and Planning in 2004 from Technical University of Munich (Germany).

 

Between 2003 and 2010 he worked as a research fellow at UniversitÓ Iuav di Venezia, while also moving to the Chair of Traffic Engineering and Control at the Technical University of Munich as a post-doctoral Research Fellow (2009-2010). In October 2010 he became an assistant professor of Transport Engineering at IUAV. He was promoted in the current position in June 2016.

 

He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on Transport (since 2007), and Transport Planning (since 2014). He is a member of the teaching staff of the MSc in Transportation Systems at the Technical University of Munich (since 2008). Furthermore, he has been a guest/visiting professor at the Department of Transport Planning at the Technical University of Vienna (2015), at the Sauder School of Business of the University of British Columbia in Vancouver (2016), and at the Faculty of Transport of the Gediminas Technical University of Vilnius (2016). He will also be visiting professor at the Faculty of Civil, Architectural, and Environmental Engineering of the Drexel University of Philadelphia (2017).

 

His research interests are quite extensive, spanning economic evaluation of transport systems, external costs of transportation (he delved particularly deep into carbon dioxide evaluation), big data and transportation, demand responsive transport systems, logistics, intelligent transport systems, and transit quality. His works have been published in Transport Policy, Transportation Research Part D: Transport and Environment, Research in Transportation Economics, Journal of Advanced Transportation, and various other transportation and applied economics journals.

 

Silvio Nocera received the 2016 Canadian-Italian Innovation Award from the Government of Canada presenting the project “The effects of climate change on transportation and adaptation policies”. He also serves on the editorial board of the journals “European Transport\Trasporti europei” and “Heliyon”.
